The 3rd International Seminar on Earthworks in Europe, organised by BASt (German Federal Highway Research Institute), FGSV (German Road and Transportation Research Association) and TUM (Technische Universität München, Zentrum Geotechnik) will take place in Berlin, Germany, from 19th to 20th March 2012.

The conference is a succession of the two conferences, which took place successfully in Paris, France, in 2005 and in London, United Kingdom, in 2009. This international seminar is to be organised as the third of a planned long term series of events to discuss and promote technical progress and understanding of recent developments and issues in the design and construction of earthworks in European countries. The programme spectrum of the seminar comprises the following sessions:

 

  • Optimum Use of Materials
  • European Standardisation
  • Soil Treatment
  • Quality Control
  • Sustainability for Earthworks
  • Geotechnical Risk and Performance
  • Selected Projects and Special Aspects.


The accompanying exhibition and poster presentation will complete the contents of the seminar from a practical point of view.
The seminar includes the welcome reception on Sunday, 18th March 2012, lunch on both days, refreshments during breaks and an exceptional evening event on Monday, 19th March 2012. Oral and poster presentations will be published on a CD-ROM.
