The fostering of international co-operation in the road and transportation sector is another important task for the FGSV. The FGSV works closely with corresponding associations in neighbouring countries: the Öffnet externen Link in neuem FensterCROW (the Netherlands), the Öffnet externen Link in neuem FensterFSV (Austria), the Öffnet externen Link in neuem FensterVSS (Switzerland), the PKD (Poland), and the Öffnet externen Link in neuem FensterMAUT (Hungary). It also holds joint information events with these research associations.

Every year, the D-A-CH information event is held in either Germany, Austria, or Switzerland. Once every two years, the CROW information event is held in either the Netherlands or Germany. The FGSV also maintains permanent contact with other international and foreign institutes.

The D-A-CH information event

The D-A-CH information event takes the form of a series of workshops. The themes addressed by the workshops are agreed by the research associations from the three countries involved, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.

The people taking part in the workshops are selected from the relevant bodies within the individual research associations. In other words, the workshops are not open to the public.

About 2–3 months after the D-A-CH information event, the results of the workshops are published in the FGSV's magazines Straße und Autobahn (Highway and Motorway) and Straßenverkehrstechnik (Road Traffic Engineering)
