Exchange of information on Wehner/Schulze test equipment

We cordially invite you to contribute your own presentation topics to the corresponding topic block. Please send your topic and a rough description of the content to the following e-mail addresses by 31 August 2024: sulzbach(at)bast.de, christian.schulze(at)uni-siegen.de und philipprueckert(at)asphalta.de.

You will receive a consolidated programme with exact times and details shortly. Here is an overview of the topic blocks I - IV so that you can submit your presentation topics:

Day 1

Begrüßung  
Digital surveys on site for the:

1) device availability/versions per country and

2) the importance of

  • the equipment technology and handling,
  • testing on rocks and
  • the prognosis tests on carriageway surfaces.

The surveys will be analysed and discussed during the concluding panel discussion on the second day.

Block 1

Device technology

Contents:

  • How did the testing device develop?
  • What is the current availability?
  • What instruments are available to check the devices independently?
  • How does a mobile PWS system work?
  • What experience can be expected from the glass plate so far?
  • What other reference materials are used? - Experiences and projects in open exchange

Day 2

Block II

Rock testing

Contents:

  • What options are there for testing aggregates and what conclusions can be drawn for road construction?
  • Evaluation background for the resistance to polishing of aggregates according to the PWS method
  • Relationships between mineralogy and polishing resistance 
Block III

Tests on asphalt / concrete / paving

Contents:

  • What kind of predictions on road surfaces are possible with the tester and how are they carried out and interpreted?
  • Performance testing for prediction on road surfaces
